Martin John Fouquette, Jr.

Martin John "Jack" Fouquette Jr., 84, passed away on August 28, 2014. He completed his BA and MA at the University of Texas, then entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served as a navigator in the Air Rescue Service in Panama. On days off, he collected and tape-recorded treefrog calls. He returned to the University of Texas for a PhD, using Panama data collection for dissertation research and earned the degree in 1958. He was a faculty member at the University of Florida from 1958-60, the University of Southwestern Louisiana 1960-65, and finally ASU until his retirement in 2005. He was a Professor Emeritus at ASU at the time of his death. Jack was just beginning a three year term as a member of the ASURA Board of Directors. During his time at ASU, he had a treefrog named the Canjun Chorus Frog in his honor. He is survived by his wife, Elena, three children and two grandchildren. A Celebration of "Jack's" life was held on September 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ. (Source: Tempe Mortuary)
