Mariette "Mimi" Newhagen, 90, passed away on October 2, 2013. Mimi, as she preferred to be called, and her former husband were married in 1948 and they had six children. The couple divorced in 1965. Mimi worked at ASU for a number of years and retired from there in 1985 as the Assistant to the Dean of Engineering. She then fulfilled her long-held dream and completed her undergraduate studies, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History from ASU in 1986. Mimi is survived by six children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mimi was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Mimi supported many different charitable efforts. Donations in her memory may be made to any of the following: Operation Smile, Wounded Warrior Project, Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue, The Nature Conservancy, or Southwest Indian Foundation.  (Source: Arizona Daily Star)
