Lori Ann Peterson Hurst, 53, passed away September 20, 2015. She is the daughter of Val Peterson, retired director of ASU Facilities Managment and ASURA President from 2008-09. In 1984 Lori graduated Cum Laude from Utah State University with a BS degree in computer science and a minor in math. Following graduation she and her husband, Gary, moved to Los Angeles, where Gary completed a master's degree and Lori worked for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In 1985 both Lori and Gary accepted jobs at Morton Thiokol in Brigham City and then in Logan, where Lori worked as a computer programmer. In 1988 they moved to Sugar Land, Texas, where Lori worked for Ferranti International maintaining control system software. Later Lori was employed by Shell Oil Company where she installed and maintained refinery control systems. Lori, Gary and their children moved to Oslo, Norway in 2004. In 2006 the family moved to their current residence in Richmond, Texas. In 2009-10, Gary had another foreign work assignment in Brisbane, Australia, but with one child finishing high school and starting college, the family did not move to Australia. Around 1992 Lori became ill with Lyme disease that went undiagnosed until early 2000. By that time the disease had severely compromised her immune system and destroyed the cartridge in all of her joints. She is survived by her husband, Gary, two children, her parents, Val and Marceil Peterson, and five siblings. She is predeceased by a daughter. Funeral services were held September 26, 2015, in the LDS Richmond Stake Center at 9950 South Mason, Richmond, Texas. She was buried in the Logan Cemetery on October 3, 2015.
