Lester Lee Satterthwaite
Professor Emeritus of Education
Lester Lee Satterthwaite,Jr. , Professor Emeritus of Education at ASU, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joella, five children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Lester joined the Navy as a teenager, and served as a weatherman on Truk. Later he filled in as weatherman at WTTV in Indianapolis, where he then became a chicken in the Land of the Magic Clock and later, Les the Cartoon Man, while pursuing his education. After receiving his Ed D from Indiana University, Lester was hired as a professor at ASU in 1968. He taught on television in KAET’s earlier days, then concentrated on media, and later computers in education. He retired in 1995.
