Larry Mankin

   

Lawrence Mankin joined ASU in 1973 as a half time faculty member of its Department of Political Science and a half time member of the Department’s Institute of Public Administration. He became a founding member of the Center of Public Affairs which evolved into the School of Public Affairs. He taught courses in organizational theory, human resources management, arts and public policy and public labor relations. His published writings were in those areas as well. Mankin served as an assistant dean of the Graduate College and on the staffs of three ASU presidents. In his last 8 years of service on the president’s staff, he received the Administrator of the Year Award from ASU Disabled Student Resources. After leaving the president’s staff, he became the director of the School of Public Affairs’ Master of Public Administration program. Mankin was president of local chapters of the American Society for Public Administration and the International Public Personnel Management Society. He served on the boards of several non-profit organizations and on advisory boards of a member of governmental agencies.

Mankin received his B.B.A degree from C.C.N. Y. and his Master of Arts and Ph.D. degrees in Political Science from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. He retired as a full professor and became a professor emeritus in 2004.
