Kurt Paul Hegland moved to Arizona as a teenager with his mother and siblings. Arizona became his lifelong home, where he built a successful career and an even more meaningful legacy with his family. 

Kurt dedicated his entire career to the construction industry, where he found great satisfaction in his work and excelled in his field. Later in life, he took a position at Arizona State University and, even after retirement, continued to use his skills to serve his community. 

He took pride in helping maintain his church's facility, working with the same dedication and care that he brought to all of his endeavors. 

proud veteran, Kurt served honorably in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War, an experience that remained a source of pride throughout his life.

Kurt was preceded in death by his father Wilbur, mother Lillian, twin brother Ken (Linda), and younger brother John. 

He is survived by his longtime soulmate, Gail Chesney, two daughters, a sister, three grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in Arizona, Illinois, Utah, Florida, and Canada. 

A memorial service was held on November 9, 2024. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dayspring United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Valley.
