I am a retired (Dec.2021) Principal Lecturer in the Department of English. During my 26 1/2 years at ASU I taught, helped develop and teach in interdisciplinary Learning Communities, coordinated a course sequence for first year students who did not place into English 101, and revitalized a department committee for community engagement (CARE). Many people contributed to CARE’s fall schedule of food drives for 7 local high schools, large-scale adopt a family shopping and wrapping events, and other projects CARE members chose annually.  CARE was supported by many faculty, staff, and graduate students.

I worked with Vice President Jennifer Hightower on ways to support the student-run food bank on the Tempe campus. This led to several things, particularly the initiation of informative website donation pages where donors may choose among a wide array of ASU communities to support.

I believe in strong volunteer organizations and community engagement. I also really like working in organizations that represent faculty and staff together.
