Dr. John C. Nelson, 74, died September 17, 2010. After graduating from North High School in 1954, John went to the Colorado School of Mines. He then transferred to ASU, where he earned a BA in business, as well as a Masters in psychology. Then he earned a PhD in special education from Peabody University (Vanderbilt) in Nashville, TN. He and his wife Pat returned to Tempe and in 1967 John joined the Special Education Department at ASU where he remained until his retirement in 2000. John is survived by his wife, Pat, a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and a sister.
