Upon retiring from a career in government service with S.S.A. John moved to Phoenix, AZ. where he worked as events staff at ASU.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Meise, his six children and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepfather and five siblings.

He is predeceased by his parents, John C.D. Meise Sr., Jane Bowen and a brother. 

He was an avid train enthusiast, photographer and kayaker. When he wasn't engaging in his numerous hobbies and educational pursuits he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

There will be a memorial service held in his honor at Walkersville Southern Railroad this Fall.
