ASU remembers

John Glancy

Professor of Engineering

John Glancy

Dr. John James Glancy earned bachelor's and master's in civil engineering from the University of Arizona and a PhD in structural engineering from Arizona State University.

He enjoyed watching the athletic events for both schools, but he loved to engage in the rivalry banter between the two even more.

He was a well-respected professor of engineering at ASU and spent many years as a structural engineer at Marathon Steel. Eventually he started his own business, Glancy Engineering, where he worked until retirement on some of the most iconic projects, including stadiums for the Suns and Cardinals.

John was very involved in the engineering community, including serving as President of the Structural Engineers Association of Arizona.

John closely followed nearly all professional sports and enjoyed going to games.

He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, and a sister.

He is survived by three sisters, a brother, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews

Services were held on February 9, 2024.
