Dr. Johann "Hans" Gottlieb Laetz, a retired ASU German professor, died September 23, 2014. Hans was born in Ortenburg, Germany, fought in WWII then went to work for the U.S. Army in 1945. He earned an M.A. and Ph.D. at Berkeley and Stanford. He moved to Scottsdale in 1964. When Hans retired from ASU he taught German to engineers at Intel for several years. Private services are pending. Hans is survived by three children and four grandchildren. (Source: Arizona Republic)
