Jeffrey C. Covill, 60, passed away on September 6, 2015. Jeff earned an undergraduate degree in Business and Hospitality from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from Babson College, with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurial studies. After graduation, he worked for a Virginia bank and for Union Mutual (now UNUM), a Maine-based life insurance company where he was a director originating both debt and equity transactions for commercial real estate projects. He moved to Phoenix in 1984, working in real estate development before founding a commercial mortgage banking company in 1990 called Keystone Mortgage Partners. Keystone was sold to GMAC Commercial Mortgage in 2001, and Jeff continued on as manager of the 14 offices comprising the Western Region. Most recently, he was co-founder with Ann McCartney of Lighthouse Commercial Finance. He also was the owner of Pickering Street Associates, a direct investment and consulting firm founded in 2004. Among his many civic roles, he was vice president of the ASU Research Park Board and served for six years as a member of the Arizona State Land Department Board of Appeals. His professional accreditations include a Counselor of Real Estate (CRE), AZ Mortgage Banker RI, SEC Broker/Dealer and he held an Arizona Real Estate Sales license. He is survived by a son, a brother, two nephews and other relatives. A memorial celebration will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 East Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ 85253.
