Jankie Supersad

Jankie Supersad, 84, passed away on January 16, 2014. He attended Queen's Royal College (high school) in Trinidad, and at age 16 won the prestigious Island Scholarship in Mathematics. He graduated with a B.Sc. Honors, in Civil Engineering from Glasgow University and with an M.S.C.E Degree from Northwestern University. Mathew Betz, an ASU emeritus professor/administrator and a past president of ASURA, notes that in 1965 Jankie earned the first Ph.D. degree from the Civil Engineering Department at ASU specializing in Highway and Traffic Engineering. Jankie joined the faculty at California State University, Fresno, in 1970 and retired as Professor Emeritus in August 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife Pearl (nee Dindial), two daughters, four grandchildren, two sisters and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Celebration will be on February 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at College Community Congregational Church, Fresno, CA.
