Jan Meyer Thompson, pianist, enjoyed a distinguished academic career of 35 years at the Arizona State University School of Music, rising from the rank of Instructor to Professor Emerita. She has performed worldwide as soloist, duopianist and chamber musician and remains active as a lecturer, adjudicator and performer with musicians across Arizona.
In “retirement,” Jan began cello study as a beginner and advanced to perform with the Tempe Symphony and as principal cellist of the Chandler-Gilbert Community Orchestra. She has been an Independent Travel Consultant for Grand Circle Travel, an Osher Lifelong Learning instructor, and Board member, Seminar committee chair and Past President of the ASU Retirees Association -- roles that combine her love of travel, teaching, and meeting interesting people. Jan lives in Tempe with her husband Jim and 2 noisy miniature schnauzers, Katie and Klaus
