James John Schultz, Ph.D., 62, passed away on March 27, 2014. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Florida State University-Tallahassee in 1983. He worked for the Southwest Research Foundation in San Antonio, TX for six years, and then worked for seven years for the Biogerontology Research Center in Glendale, AZ. While there, he was also an Associate Professor of Chemistry at ASU-Tempe. He was currently employed as a research scientist at the VA Medical Center in Los Angeles, and was also on staff at UCLA. His research at the VA Medical Center was in the areas of Alzheimer's disease, prostate cancer and brain trauma. Jim was a long-time member of The Endocrine Society, and had written or co-written numerous articles dealing with his research, which were published in that journal. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, three aunts and five uncles. He is survived by two aunts and several cousins. Committal services will be 12 noon on Wednesday, April 9th, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, Wisconsin. (source: ASU Foundation)
