(Ret.) Lieutenant Colonel James (Jim) O. Hill, 86, passed away on November 19, 2015. In 1950 Jim received his undergraduate degree from Tuskegee and a commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He later earned Master of Science degrees from the University of Colorado [Management] and Tennessee State [Education]. In 1953 Jim served in the Korean War and later in Viet Nam. He was an ROTC instructor and director at Tennessee State, and was selected as part of a special commission to rewrite the USAF's advanced ROTC curriculum while director of the advanced program at Tennessee State. In 1971, Jim was honored as the outstanding administration Officer of the Year for the North American Air Defense Command Division [NORAD]. In 1973, he retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, settling in Glendale, Arizona, where he began working for ASU, first as an administrator of professional training for the Center for Executive Development in the College of Business, and later as Director of Community Relations, a position he held until his retirement in 1995. His first wife, Irene Jackson Hill, passed away in 2010. He is survived by three children, his second wife Nazie, a sister, six step-children, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Jim's life was honored at Good Hope Baptist Church in Franklin, AL on November 28, 2015, with final interment at Forehand Cemetery, Franklin, Alabama. A further memorial will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, [date to be determined] at the Tanner Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
