Herb Zimiles
Professor of Psychology
Herb graduated from NYU and received a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Rochester in 1955. He worked for over 30 years in NYC as the Director of Research at Bank Street College of Education, developing and evaluating innovative programs in child development. Herb then spent over 20 years as a Professor of Psychology at Arizona State University. Despite his background in mathematics, Herb was an outspoken critic of an over-reliance on quantitative methods in his profession. Nevertheless, Herb strongly believed in the power of analytical tools of psychology to enrich people's lives and provide insights into the human condition Herb is survived by his brother, first wife, two sons, five grandchildren and one great grandson, two stepdaughters, and five step granddaughters.
