Helen Ann Blaesser

Helen Ann Blaesser, 101, passed away on February 26, 2015. Helen attended the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, Minnesota, and in 1935 graduated from the University of Wisconsin, with a Master of Arts. She later studied dramatics at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California. In 1941 she married Willard Blaesser, then Assistant Dean of Men at the University of Wisconsin. In 1968 Willard became a professor in the Department of Counselor Education at ASU and became Professor Emeritus in 1984. Over the years, Helen pursued her interest in drama and did local TV commercials in Tempe. After taking some art classes at ASU, Helen became an accomplished watercolorist. Her paintings won prizes at the Arizona State Fair, and many still adorn the walls of a number of banks and other institutions in Tempe. Helen and Willard moved to Massachusetts in 1998. Helen is survived by three children, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 4, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo in Manitowoc. Private burial followed. Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to an art museum or institution of the donor's choice.
