Frank Samuel Stalzer
Professor of Oboe
Frank Samuel Stalzer, 91, passed away on April 28, 2016. He received his bachelors of music education degree from Kansas University in 1948 and his Masters of Music degree from University of Rochester, New York (Eastman School of Music). He taught at Louisiana State University from 1950-1955. Frank was the oboe professor at ASU from 1955 until his retirement in 1990. While at ASU, he was a member of the Woodwind Quintet. In 1955, he joined the Phoenix Symphony and was principal of the oboe and English horn for over 29 years. Frank was honored by the Arizona Music Educators Association as the recipient of the Music Educator Legacy Award. He was a member of Music Educators National Conference and International Double Reed Society. Frank is survived by his brother, a daughter, a son and seven grandchildren.
