Frances Elaine Heerema McGee, 90, died May 23, 2013. “Mem” graduated from Simpson College, where she met her future husband, Bob McGee. She graduated from the Harvard/Radcliffe Program in Business Administration in 1945 with a degree in Human Resources. Following graduation, she worked for Bank of America in Los Angeles, California, as a personnel officer. She then served as the women's counselor at the University of Evansville, Indiana. Her husband, Bob, earned his Masters in Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business. The family moved to Arizona in 1956, and in 1965 Bob became the founding CEO and President of Thunderbird Bank of Arizona, where he worked for the next 25 years. During that time Mem became involved in many community activities in the west valley including Thunderbird American Graduate School of International Management. She and her husband helped establish the ASU West campus, and were most proud of their Provost Club member #001. Mem is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and two brothers. She is survived by a sister, two sons, six grandchildren and three great grandsons. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her name to the Beatitudes Campus of Care, 1616 W.
