ASU remembers
Evelyn Francis Partridge
Evelyn Francis Partridge,80, passed away on October 12, 2012. After the death of her first husband in the late 1950s Evelyn left the USA and settled in Jamaica with her three children where she worked for several years as a manager with Avianca Airlines. After remarrying in 1964, and now with a fourth child, she moved to Nigeria, then on the outbreak of civil war there in 1966 she moved to England, where she remained for the next 18 years. During this time she enrolled with the Open University and graduated with a BA in English Literature. In 1984 she left England to return to the USA. She settled in Arizona. Hiking and geology were two of her main interests. She served as secretary of the Phoenix Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society and also volunteered at the Pueblo Grande Museum where she was elected to the Board of Directors in June 2010. As an adult student Evelyn continued her studies at ASU, graduating with an MBA in the early 1990s. After graduation she worked in the Gerontology Department until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of ASU’s University Career Women organization and edited the UCW Newsletter for a number of years. After retiring she became actively involved with the ASU Retirees Association and was a member of the annual Retirees Day Committee. Despite severe illness she continued to be a volunteer in ASURA until 2012. Evelyn is survived by four children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
