Eula Mae Bursh

Eula attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree. She completed a Masters in Natural Science degree at Arizona State University and a Doctorate of Education from Nova University. 

Dr. Bursh was an educator in math and science. She was admired and respected by her peers. In her career, she taught for the Phoenix Unified School District, numerous Maricopa Community Colleges, and Arizona State University.

Along with numerous awards, honors, and grants, Dr. Bursh was selected as an American Council on Education (ACE) fellow. Typically awarded to college professors or Deans, Dr. Bursh was one of, if not the first Community College professor recipient of the fellowship. As a fellow, she traveled around the world learning best practices in teaching and education leadership. 

She is predeceased by her parents, Olivia Mary Haney Riley and Mose Riley, a brother and her former husband Joshua M. Bursh II.

She leaves behind her sister, her two children, Phyllis Michelle Bursh, of Belle Mead, New Jersey; and three grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and cousins.

Dr. Bursh's funeral and repast was held Saturday, February 12 at the ASU First United Methodist Church in Tempe.
