Eldo Henry Platte, 95, died February 8, 2014. He was a 45 year resident of the Valley. He answered the nation's call during WWII by joining the Army Air Corps and after graduating from Aviation Cadets he served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific as a B-29 bombardier. He later served with the Air Force in the Korean War also as a B-29 bombardier and many other Air Force assignments ranging from Mather AFB to Homestead AFB, FL to RAF Alconbury, UK until leaving the Air Force in 1968. After moving to the Valley he joined Air West Airlines and served with several other airlines until retiring in 1981. He and his wife supported ASU by hosting many international students introducing them to the Valley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, a son, a brother and his parents. He is survived by a son, two grandchildren and two great grandsons. A memorial service was held at King of Glory Lutheran Church on February 10, 2014. Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona Cave Creek. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the King of Glory Lutheran Church, Tempe or Banner Alzheimer Institute, Phoenix, AZ. (Source: Arizona Republic)
