Edward B. Waldmann

Edward B. Waldmann, MD, FACP, 89, passed away on December 14, 2015. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Creighton University, where he graduated summa cum laude from the medical school and received the Adolph Sachs Award. His internship was spent at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, followed by service as a naval flight surgeon. After the Navy, he became associated with the Mayo Clinic, first as a fellow in medicine and then as a staff member. In 1959 he moved to Phoenix and joined Phoenix Medical Associates. In 1968, he was named medical director of the Mercy Care Center at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center and then developed a consulting practice in internal medicine and nephrology. He was on the teaching staff at St. Joseph Hospital from 1979 until his retirement in the 90’s; an associate in internal medicine at the University of Arizona from 1973-1984 and instructor for the nurse clinician (practitioner) program, Graduate School of Nursing at ASU from 1973-1978. Dr. Waldmann is survived by three children, two grandchildren, four stepchildren from his late wife, two step-grandchildren and one stepchild from his surviving wife, Sandra Waldmann. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation.
