Upcoming primary election

The election primary season is here. I don’t know about your district but we are having a very spirited primary for our Congressional Representative.

I read through my 2024 Voter Education Guide and picked out a few tidbits that I thought were worth highlighting.

  • You probably already know this but it is important: The July 30 Primary Election determines the candidates from each political party who will advance to the General Election in November.
  • I did not know the following until the Annual Meeting last April: All voters, including those not affiliated with a recognized political party (Independents) can vote in the primary election. If you are a registered Independent you may request a Republican, Democratic, or local non-partisan ballot. If you go to the polls on election day, ask your poll worker for your ballot of choice.

You have three ways to vote:

  • Early by mail
  • Early in person
  • Election day (with valid ID)

Important Dates

  • July 19 – last day to request a ballot by mail
  • July 23 – recommended date for mailing in ballot (ballots must be received no later than 7:00 pm on Election Day)
  • July 26 – last day to vote early in person
  • July 30 – Primary Election Day
  • Note: the dates in the paper version of the summer Prime Times were not correct
