Dudley W. Melichar, Ph.D., 82, passed away December 12, 2009. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from South Dakota State University. He began his teaching and coaching career in Spearfish, SD and later in Watertown, SD. In 1966, the family moved to Tempe where he earned his Ph.D. and eventually he developed the Department of Criminal Studies at ASU. Dudley dedicated his life to being a coach and an educator and retired as Associate Dean of the College of Public Programs at ASU. Dudley is survived by his wife, Blanche, two children and two grandchildren.
