Douglas J. Simmons, 87, passed away on April 7, 2017. Douglas attended Wabash College, Harvard University, and the Institut de Linguistique et Phonetique, Paris. He moved to the Valley in 1963 and began his career at ASU in the Foreign Language Department where he taught until he retired in 1990. He is survived by two sons, one daughter and three grandchildren. (Source: Arizona Republic)
