Dr. Dorothy Wirtz, 98, has passed away. She obtained her BA from the University of Iowa, and an MA and a Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin. Her major was French; her minor, German.  She taught French language and literature at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Minnesota and Arizona State University. When her parents took her brother to Arizona for his health, Dorothy joined them and entered politics, becoming Deputy State Treasurer of Arizona. Sputnik made foreign languages important again, and she began teaching at ASU. There will be a private burial for Dorothy followed by a remembrance gathering of her friends at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St, Phoenix, on July 14th from 4:00-6:00 pm.
