Dorothy Inez Patten Shlyk, 78, of Tempe, Arizona, returned home to the arms of her Heavenly Father on May 4, 2009. Dorothy was born to Oriel and Lydia Patten, and is survived by her son Adam Liana and daughter Amy Gregg and her brother Gary Patten, and 10 grandchildren. In her final days she was surrounded by so many family and friends. Dorothy was married to Nicholas Shlyk for 10 years before he passed away in 1963. She was later married to Henry Gerlach for 19 years. She lived life to the fullest. She was always doing random acts of kindness for so many people. She loved gardening, traveling, serving others, and being with family and friends. She worked at ASU for 37 years in the office of Student Affairs. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who met her. She is preceded in death by her husband Nick, her mother, father, and sister.
