Doris W. “Scottie" Welch, 93, passed away on November 26, 2014. Her husband, H. W. “Bill” Welch, had a fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, then went to Harvard where he worked as a pioneer in radio research. He taught electrical engineering at the University of Michigan before moving to Phoenix in 1957. He was first a Vice President of Motorola and later a professor of electrical engineering at ASU. Preceding her in death were her husband Bill, a brother, sister, granddaughter and grandson. She is survived by a son, daughter, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in the Memorial Gardens at Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. McDonald Dr. in Paradise Valley at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Reception will follow.
