Donna Winkler

Administrative Assistant - Department of Foreign Languages

Donna Winkler

Donna earned her degree from the University of Phoenix in 1997. "It's never too late to graduate," she would proudly say.

Outgoing and vivacious, she worked outside the home throughout her life – as a switchboard operator (a job she bluffed her way into) and later as an Administrative Assistant at Stroh Brewery, Bendix, Arizona State University Department of Foreign Languages, and finally, Motorola, supporting the Iridium satellite project. In between working for others, she tried her hand as a businesswoman – in the late '60s opening an avantgarde clothing boutique and running a word processing service in the 1980s.

After retiring, Donna devoted many years to volunteer service. She taught English as a second language in Arizona. She was dedicated to the work of the American Red Cross and was recognized by the chapter in Portland for her support of their mission tracing survivors of the Holocaust, participating in traditional disaster response efforts, and working with the local National Guard command.

She was endlessly proud of her four children, and perhaps even more so of her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Cascades Chapter of the American Red Cross: https://tinyurl.com/RCsupervolunteer
