Donald Joseph Gumeringer, 59, passed away August 5, 2010. Don was a Park Ranger for the City of Phoenix for over twenty years and was recognized for excellence countless times for his work with the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the ASU Army ROTC Program, the Phoenix Mountains Preservation Council, Horses Help, and many local after school programs across the valley. Don's passion for the preservation and education of South Mountain Park has touched countless hearts across the valley. He has inspired a new generation of Park Rangers, conservationists and historians in the preservation and continued education of one of the most naturally diverse and historical city parks in all of America. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Deborah, four children, his mother, six siblings and two grandchildren.
