Donald D. Chudanov Age 87, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2009. Born on June 6, 1921, Don grew up in Akron, Ohio and trained to be a barber in his late teens. At the onset of World War II, he joined the military and after training spent the remainder of the war with the Army Air Force stationed in the Pacific. Don later ran Donalew's, a bar and restaurant along with his brother Lew. He married sweet Donna Strbich on June 11, 1950. Their children Cindy and Bill soon followed, as did their big move to Phoenix, AZ. Don often told the story of moving to Phoenix and within weeks he had a new house, a new car, a new baby and no job. He began operating a barber shop shortly thereafter and did that for many years. He finished his working years at Arizona State University. In his long retirement, Don enjoyed being with his family and watching his two granddaughters grow up. He also enjoyed investing and watching the stock market closely. He was able to travel a lot with his family as both of his children work for airlines. Don is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Donna; daughter Cindy Moliter (Ray); son Bill Chudanov; granddaughters Jennifer Jelenic (Ivo) and Stacie Dana (Jeremy); great-grandchildren Julius and Nikola Jelenic, and Eva Dana; brother Lew Chudanov (Dorothy) and sister Deborah Lontchar. We will forever miss Don's whistle, his voice and most of all his vibrant personality.
