Dr. Don Fare earned his bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University). He went on to achieve a masters and doctorate degree from Texas Tech University.

Don's first collegiate job was at Arizona State University. Don and Peggy eventually settled in Nacogdoches, where he joined the faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University as a professor in the elementary education department. He dedicated his career to inspiring future educators until his retirement. 

Don was a quiet and gentle man known for his quick wit and passion for teaching. He had a deep love of reading, was a computer enthusiast, and found great joy in fostering a love of learning in others. 

He is survived by his beloved wife Peggy Beard Fare of Nacogdoches; three daughters; a son; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a nephew; and a niece. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a granddaughter; a son-in-law; and a nephew. 

A private graveside memorial will be held with immediate family members. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Harvest House or The Nacogdoches Treatment Center.
