Dale Scott Ridley, 63, passed away on October 22, 2018. Ridley graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in agriculture and the University of Texas at Austin with a master's degree and a PhD in educational psychology. He spent 21 years at ASU as a professor, program director, author and principal investigator of over $110 million in federal grants supporting district-based teacher and principal preparation programs and comprehensive school reform initiatives in urban and rural partner districts across the state of Arizona. He also served as the Associate Dean in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU before coming to Texas Tech in the summer of 2011 where he became the Dean of the College of Education. At Tech, the college engaged in significant reform and undertakings, including housing one of only twelve Promise Neighborhood Grant Programs in the United States under his leadership. In 2016, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Ridley to a brief stint on the state Board for Educator Certification. He was a member of Deans for Impact, Educate Texas and the Southern Regional Education Board Teacher Preparation Commission. Scott is survived by his wife, Kristina Lee McCrae, a daughter, his mother, stepfather and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his father. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 10, at The Difference Maker's Fellowship located at 224 Buddy Holly Avenue. Interment will follow at the Grady City Cemetery in Grady, New Mexico at 2:00 pm MST on November 10th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Dr. Scott and Kris Ridley Scholarship in Education or c/o College of Education, Box 41071, Lubbock, Texas 79409.
