Choosing a Non-ASU Email Service

Logos for Popular Email ServicesThere are free email accounts available from many sources. Pick one and set up your account! Don't forget to point your @asu.edu address to the new service. The most popular choices for ASU Retirees are:

Microsoft Outlook on the Web (formerly Hotmail.com, aka Outlook.com)

Advantages: This  is a cloud-based email service that has the familiar interface you are used to if you used ASU Outlook/Exchange. You can use it with the Microsoft Outlook app on your computer, phone, and tablet, all of which will stay in sync. The major difference in features between this and ASU Outlook is that you will not have access to the ASU address list (the Global Address List). You can, of course, still look up ASU email addresses on ASU's website directory.

We have provided step-by-step instructions for migrating to this service from ASU Outlook/Exchange. Your email address will end in @outlook.com.

Gmail (Google) ( personal account - not Gmail for ASU)

This is a very popular cloud-based email service with many features and options. Advantages: The same Google account can be used to access YouTube and other Google products. There is a Gmail app for most phones and tablets. There are several Gmail Apps for Windows computers. To find them, just search the Internet on "Gmail apps for Windows". You can even use the Microsoft Outlook app on a Windows computer to access your Gmail service if you wish. You probably already have a Google account if you have an Android phone or tablet.

Your In

ternet Service Provider (ISP), e.g. Cox or CenturyLink

Some ISPs include email accounts and a webmail interface as part of their services. Typically these services are fairly simple and have fewer features than Outlook.com and Gmail.

To get started with email from Cox or Centurylink, go to Cox Webmail signin or CenturyLink Webmail signin. Both of these pages have links for you to use if you need help in signing in. Cox and CenturyLink email accounts end in @cox.net and @CenturyLink.net.
