Charles Ashley Saffell
Charles Ashley Saffell, M.D., (age not stated), passed away on January 23, 2016. He was a retired Family Practice Physician. His Bachelor of Science degree is from Memphis State University, and he received his Doctor of Medicine, (M.D.) in 1962 from the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis. After graduating from medical school, Dr Saffell served as a Flight Surgeon in the US Air Force before opening his practice in Lakeland, Florida. After a move to Oakridge, Oregon, he came to Mesa in 1975 where he continued his practice for 28 of his 41 years as a physician. Dr. Saffell is survived by his wife, Marion, a daughter, a son and two grandchildren. Dr. Saffell’s son, Charles A. (Chuck) Saffell, ll, is employed at ASU in University Business Services, Materials Management. Chuck’s wife, Dr Erinanne Saffell, PhD, teaches Physical Geography & Meteorology at Mesa Community College and at ASU’s School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning.
