Charles Fimian

Charles Fimian,82, passed away April 30, 2012. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin NROTC program, he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. Upon graduation he was commissioned a Marine second lieutenant infantry officer and served in the Korean and Viet Nam wars. Military honors include the Legion of Merit with Combat Distinguishing Device, Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device for Valor and the Purple Heart. He retired from the Marine Corps as a colonel after 26 years of service. Subsequently, he received his PhD in Political Science from ASU where he worked as a professor and academic advisor for another 15 years. His first wife Joan McCune of Duluth, MN died in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Pat Scharr-Fimian, three children, three step-children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, a half-sister and half-brother.
