Bridget Cherie Harper, 44, died on August 26, 2015. She is survived by her mothers, Betty Harper and Sally Yeagley, two brothers and two sisters. She is preceded in death by her father, Brian William Harper III. Bridget graduated with distinction in ceramics from ASU and continued her education independently, spending time as artist-in-residence in the Historic Pottery Village of Dan Kwean in Thailand, and working and traveling through Italy. She had solo exhibitions at the PaulScott Gallery in Scottsdale and at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center in Merced, California. Her work appeared in numerous group exhibitions in Arizona, including the Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art, Shemer Art Museum, Phoenix Art Museum, Skysong, ASU Ceramics Research Center, and others. Her art has also appeared around the world. She was a visiting lecturer at ASU’s Herberger College of Fine Arts, Ceramics Department, and the Phoenix Art Museum Contemporary Forum. From 1999 to 2007, she conducted Youth Art Workshops for the Vision Gallery in Chandler, Arizona. Bridget's art is in the collections of the Ceramic Research Center, Tempe; the Virginia Piper Foundation, Scottsdale; and the Ironwood Cancer and Research Center, Scottsdale. Her art and artistry have been featured in numerous publications. Bridget is the subject of an alumni profile to be published in the September issue of ASU Magazine. From 1998 until her passing, she served as program coordinator for ceramics for the City of Tempe Cultural Services Division. In that capacity, she built what has been described as one of the most sophisticated community arts studios in Arizona. She was the Selected Artist for the design and production of the Architectural Excellence Award for the City of Chandler, Arizona, 2003-2004; Chair, Fundraising Committee and Treasurer of the Artist Advisory Committee for the ASU Ceramic Research Center; Consultant for the Dr. AJ Chandler and Frank Lloyd Wright Monument in Chandler, Arizona (2001); and Artist, Sculptures for Princess Cruise Liners in Scottsdale and Trieste, Italy. Plans are being made for a memorial service to honor and celebrate Bridget's life with, as she requested, "food and laughter.”
