W. D. (Bill) Ray

W. D. (Bill) Ray, 93, passed away November 22, 2015. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees at Auburn University and went on to teach math at Auburn University, Arizona State University and high schools in Georgia and Alabama. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a crew member of a B-17. After his teaching career, Bill became a skilled auctioneer, and was eventually inducted into the Alabama Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame. He also became a real estate broker, a certified real estate appraiser and a real estate developer. He owned Ray Farm, Ray Realty and Auction Company and, later, Courthouse Square Antiques in LaFayette, Ala. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne Fincher Ray. He is survived by three daughters and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held November 28, in Lanett, AL.
