Beverly Shaw McNamara
Beverly Shaw McNamara, 86, passed away on May 19, 2012. Beverly completed her undergraduate degree in 1947 with a major in Dramatic Arts and a minor in Science and her Master's in Education from ASU in 1972 with an emphasis in Secondary Science Education. She taught Science and Drama to 7th grade students in the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD). Beverly served as the district coordinator of Math, Science and Social Studies for the SUSD for four years. She was the co-director of the NAU Summer Science and Energy camp for 7th grade students for five years. She taught fellow educators at summer courses at ASU, and mentored future educators from the NAU College of Education. She was a presenter at the Soviet/American Convention in Moscow, Russia in 1991; she taught Russian science teachers how to use science fairs to teach reasoning and problem solving skills to their students. Beverly is survived by two daughters and three grandchildren.
