Prior to my employment at Arizona State University, which began in June 1974, I was employed by several financial and insurance companies in Colorado and Arizona.
On the urging of my husband I applied and interviewed for a staff position in the Department of Chemistry. I was fortunate to be hired by Dr. Therald Moeller who was the department chair at that time.
In the ensuing years, I had the opportunity and privilege to work with and assist 42 faculty members (which included six department chairs) and numerous students in the Department of Chemistry in various capacities. In 1980 I was asked to serve as the assistant to the department chair, Morton Munk, and also serve as the faculty personnel coordinator which, among other things, included the hiring of faculty and promotion and tenure reviews. I also was privileged to be asked, and to use my organizational skills, to assist in two high-level administrative searches . In 1992 the name of the department was changed to Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and most recently School of Molecular Sciences.
I retired from ASU in 2012 after nearly 38 of service. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with six department chairs all who had confidence in my ability to perform my duties honorably.
