Barbara Lu Boyer Obray
Barbara Lu Boyer Obray, 83, passed away June 18, 2011. Barbara attended Brigham Young University, and after marriage, settled in California. In 1958 they relocated to Arizona. Barbara was an accomplished pianist and composer. Barbara taught piano lessons, served as music director, organist, pianist, and choir director in her LDS wards, wrote and published hymns, children's songs, church road shows, and patriotic anthems, and was a member of numerous musical performing groups. She worked in several positions at ASU and for the Board of Regents. Barbara returned to college and ultimately earned a B.A. in Music Pedagogy and Composition from ASU. Barbara is survived by her six children, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband, Bryce, four siblings and her parents.
