Art received his PhD from the University of Arizona with an emphasis on education finance.  His MBA and BA are from the American University in Washington D. C. He retired from the Arizona Board of Regents in 2010 after 30 years of service.  While at the Board he was involved in working with the three public universities in strategic planning, capital planning, student health insurance, information technology and distance education.  Art is married to Diane Ashton and they have two daughters, both recent ASU graduates.
