ASU remembers
Alexander Barbanell
CLAS Dean's Council
Alexander completed his college degree at age 50, becoming a proud ASU Alumnus with a BS in History. He served as president of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Alumni Association, where he established the CLAS Dean's Council. He also served on ASU National Alumni Board, was a member of the Dean's Search Committee, and was honored with the CLAS Distinguished Achievement Award in 1987 and the ASU Alumni Service Award in 1994. He was devoted to the scientific work of the Institute of Human Origins at Arizona State University and served on its board from 2010 until his death. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Feldt, and their blended family of six children, 10 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Contributions in tribute to Alex are welcome to Take The Lead ( www.taketheleadwomen.com/donate ) or the Institute of Human Origins ( https://iho.asu.edu/support-iho ). A virtual shiva and storytelling about Alex was held August 1 on what would have been his 92nd birthday, and a celebration of his life will be held in Phoenix in the fall. |
