Abid A. Al-Marayati, 81, passed away August 5, 2013. He was Associate Professor at ASU from 1965-1968. He received bachelor's and master's degrees from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill, and a doctorate from New York University.  After ASU he went to University of Toledo and was a political science faculty member for nearly 45 years, and a former department chairman who had been director of the university's International Studies Center. He had been named a UT outstanding teacher and, for his work toward improved international relations, received the Golden Door Award from the International Institute of Greater Toledo. Surviving are two sons, seven brothers, three sisters and a grandson. Services were at the Islamic Institute of Knowledge in Dearborn, Mich. Burial is to be in Najaf, Iraq.
