Board Nominating Procedures
The ASURA Bylaws call for a Board Nominating Committee to develop a ballot for the annual election of new Board members, which takes place in February.
The nominating committee welcomes expressions of interest from current members, and also accepts nominating petitions signed by at least 10 current members. Direct your expressions of interest and/or your nominating petitions to the Board Nominating Committee chair, i.e. the Immediate Past President. Deadline for receipt of nominating petitions is January 31.
There is no specific format for a nominating petition. You may simply send a letter stating that you are nominating a named member, with the letter signed by 10 current ASURA members. Make sure the member names are printed legibly in addition to providing signatures. People nominated by petition will be placed on the ballot. Nominees should be willing to serve, and should be prepared to provide a photo, name of former ASU department, former employment category and date retired for inclusion on the ballot.
