Fall 2009 Open Enrollment for ADOA Health Insurance

Open enrollment for 2009-2010 Health and Dental insurance continues to be an issue for some retirees.

Retirees who retained their enrollment in the plans offered by ADOA's Benefit Options have completed their Open Enrollment by September 4, 2009. With the exception of the Secure Horizons plan their coverage begins October 1, 2009 and continues thr9ough September 30, 2010. At the end of that year there will be another Open Enrollment period during which new decsions may be made as defined in that year's Open Enrollment Brochure.

Retirees who elected to enroll in or to continue their enrollment in the Secure Horizons plan for the limited period of october 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009 will need to make a new enrollment decision during the month of November. The Benefits Options Office will advise them of the specific deadline for making their decision. Affected retirees should review the Open Enrollment Brochure and should be prepared to make their decision by the November deadline.

The four health insurance companies (Aetna, Blue Cross of Arizona, Cigna, and United Healthcare) offered during the 2009-2010 ADOA Benefits Option open enrollment period will be available to them.
